Taking Back the Wedge

Yesterday, a victory was won for all those who deal with 11 year olds at the skate park who think they run the place. A few weeks ago at our normal Sunday morning Wedge Pride sesh, some kids were goofing off and throwing gravel at their friend while he skated the bowl area. Me, not wanting to eat shit on a tiny pebble, asked the kids not to throw gravel cause they're ruining it for everyone. That was it. No yelling, no name calling. Next thing I know, I am charging the bowl area at full speed and these kids pop up from behind a retaining wall and start throwing handfuls of gravel at me....these kids were skateboarders!!!!! Needless to say, this old salty dog doesn't take shit from anyone and I ran after and caught three of them and I was going to call the heat on them just to teach them a good lesson. Well, the little f-er's squirmed away from me before I could get to a phone.
Anyway, yesterday during our sesh, they showed up again. This time I had some homies AND my wife was there to actually see that I wasn't over reacting to some kids. Once they started taunting me instantly, I walked up to one and confiscated his skateboard. These little punks freaked the fuck out on me and started to swarm and attack me. My ol' lady called the fuzz and tons of parents were there to witness this one. When the cops came they were all over my shit for ripping a skateboard from an 11 year old's hands, since I am one crusty 40 year old. I tried to explain that throwing gravel at someone going full speed on a skateboard is assault with intent to harm and I wanted to file charges. He told me that throwing gravel was not a crime. I will remember that when I sue the city when one of these punks makes me shatter my elbow because of a tiny piece of gravel he threw at me.
After hearing both sides, the fuzz sided with me and warmed up to me and started joking around. Afterward, other kids and parents were thanking me for doing what they wished they had done a long time ago. These kids have been harassing a lot of kids at the park.
This is ridiculous: skaters hurting skaters. What the fuck happened? Why are we all 'cliqued' out now?
So.....in an effort to let our community know that AZPX does not suck, we are gonna throw down a free bbq at the Wedge in the next couple of weeks or so. Everyone is invited. Free hot dogs and soda for the kids and some tasty brew for the adults. Oh yeah, FREE raffle to win some decks. LET'S TAKE BACK OUR SKATEPARKS!

So yes, it's official. I, Rob Locker (Lob Rocker), am the crustiest, saltiest, ugliest, most pain in the ass son of a bitch at the park. I wear it with pride.
